Resorts Tunica Casino News Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel thrills crowd with surprise giveaway of $200,000 in unprecedented fashion during its Opening Weekend Celebration Euphoria erupts at Resorts, as the newest casino in Tunica awards all five qualifiers a 2005 Mustang GT Convertible and five local charities $10,000 cash Tunica Resorts, MS - June 19, 2005 - In a surprise twist reminiscent of Oprah's audience-wide car giveaway, Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel shocked its opening weekend crowd on June 19 by awarding all five casino qualifiers with a 2005 Mustang GT Convertible and five local charities with $10,000 each. The initial plans for the celebration called for one R Card holder to win the brand-new car, and one of five local charities to receive the $10,000 cash donation. "Resorts' philosophy is that we are more than just a business operating in this market - we are an active, contributing member of the community," said Mark Fulton, General Manager of Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel. "Today's grand opening demonstrates our commitment to the region, and that when a guest visits Resorts, anything and everything can happen." The memorable evening began when Marsha Ness was selected to win the 2005 GT Mustang, and the Ronald McDonald House received the $10,000 cash prize. Just as the applause was beginning to subside, Resorts announced that all of the remaining four qualified casino guests and the remaining four charities would each receive their prize as well. The following five charities each received a $10,000 donation from Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel: The Ronald McDonald House; the Grace Foundation; the Memphis Sexual Assault Resource Center; St. Peter's Villa; and the Memphis Food Bank. Casino players qualified for the 2005 Mustang GT Convertible drawing by playing slots and table games at Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel with their R Card from May 12 through June 19. One qualifier was selected each day from Wednesday, June 15 through Sunday, June 19. Additional highlights of Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel's opening weekend included hosting the Miller Lite ring card girl competition on Friday, June 17. Winners of the competition were featured as ring card girls during the Antonio Tarver vs. Glen Johnson championship boxing event on Saturday, June 18 at the FEDEX Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. Resorts Tunica was also the official casino sponsor of the Tarver/Johnson event, at which more than 12,000 in attendance viewed the Resorts brand name prominently displayed on the neutral corners, the ring mat, and throughout the building. Conveniently located at the Casino Strip in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi, Resorts Tunica Casino Hotel offers 25 table games and 1,100 slot machines throughout its 35,000 square foot casino. Each of the property's 200 hotel rooms and suites offers a variety of amenities, including an adjacent sitting area to provide a relaxing retreat from the gaming action. Guests can choose from four dining outlets, ranging from deli sandwiches to gourmet cuisine. Resorts International Holdings is an affiliate of Colony Capital, LLC.
