DELTA DAY COMING OCTOBER 21st TO THE TOWN OF TUNICA
TUNICA, Mississippi (October 2006)—Get ready to celebrate the Mississippi Delta during Delta Day Festival in Downtown Tunica! Saturday, October 21st from 9:00 until 5:00 will be a day of children’s activities, entertainment, antique cars, good food, and family fun. “This is an event that is free to the public and will be a perfect way for families to spend time together,” Sandy Gannaway, executive director of Tunica Main Street said. “Our line-up of attractions and entertainment will provide something for everyone to enjoy, and this year we’ve expanded our Kid’s Zone activity area, so we encourage parents and grandparents to bring the kids for a day of fun.” The children’s activities include: free face painting, moon bounce, petting zoo, bungee run, costume contest (starts at 10:30), gyroscope, dart throw, free balloon art, pet costume parade (starts at 1:30), kid’s tractor pull (starts at 2:00), giant slide, train rides, target shoot, jousting game, and much more! “Additionally, there will also be live entertainment playing from the morning into the afternoon,” Lynn Ryals, assistant executive director of Tunica Main Street added. Featuring classic oldies, The Bouffants will be playing from 11:00-2:00. Then, stay through the afternoon when country performers, The Willy Waggs, keep the crowd dancing. While enjoying the music, Delta Day Festival go-ers can enjoy looking at more than 50 antique cars that will be on display, try the food from several vendors, and shop at all of Tunica’s specialty stores. Located 30 minutes South of Memphis, the new I-69 makes getting to Tunica a short, easy drive. To get to Downtown Tunica, take I-55 South. Take the I-69 exit to Highway 61, and continue South through the Tunica resort area (approximately 12 miles) to Downtown Tunica.
