Now, let's get down to what is going on in Tunica.
On our trip last week I heard people in the hotel hallways talking about how cold it was in the casinos. For those of you that haven't been introduced to the Mississippi state bird, the mosquito, the coolness helps tame the critters. Even thou it may be in the 90's outside bring a long sleeve shirt or light jacket with you. Best protection from the mosquitoes and the coolness. On the forum we have also learned Bounce fabric softener sheets help. You may want to tuck one in your pocket. The casinos try their best to battle the problem inside but outside it is almost impossible.
Sheraton Casino is going all out to get your business. Give them a try. We did and really enjoyed our stay. They have a special menu at Reno's, a casual restaurant inside the Sheraton Casino Hotel, with irresistible prices. Big Breakfast specials starting at $2.99 and a New York Strip Dinner for $7.99. Don't be fooled thinking the price takes away from the quality. Quality is still superb! (special menu here)
Casinos tend to get in loosest slots wars and Sheraton has loosened theirs again. To top off the looser slots, and the Reno's specials they also have a special room rate while they last of $29! Here's is what I received an email and am passing along.....

Frankly, that is the best deal in town! Especially since Sheraton Casino hotel has the best rooms in town, all suites. We give Sheraton Two Thumbs Up! Good Luck and hope this helps make a more enjoyable Tunica Trip.
Harrah's has the new GAME of LIFE nickel slot machine. It is a 9 line 3 reel. No bonus rounds like some of you are used to on the video slots, but there are chances for bigger paybacks. I hit a 1,000 coin pay twice playing one coin 9 lines. AMERICAN BANDSTAND is another new nickel machine at Harrah's. If you play all lines with one nickel your bet is $1. (twenty lines). Plus Bonus Rounds. One more set of machines worth mentioning at Harrah's is the 10 cent bank just as you walk in the door. Our favorites were the Rich Uncle and Frequent Flyer. For you seniors, Harrah's has a earn 50 credits get $10 food voucher good anywhere in the casino dining establishments. Limited time.

Bally's Cornucopia Buffet has been remodeled and rejuvenated! You will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks Bally's. The change is most welcomed and appreciated.
Hollywood is still running their Thriller Cash Giveaways. The name is most appropriate. On Father's Day we were on the elevator at Hollywood and one of the $1,000 winners got on. To say the least this guy was "thrilled". Check it out.
Isle of Capri Tunica - Looks like the rumors are flying and we have to wait for the official announcement but word has it Boyd Gaming, owners of Sam's Town Casino, may be the new owners. We will keep you up to date when we hear. The Isle is giving away a Jaguar! Yep you got it a Jag! Now there is a smooth ride! Drawing to be July 27th at 10pm.
Tunica, the town, is well worth getting to know. We recently visited the newly opened Tunica Museum. When you go, be sure and watch the short introduction video. It is well worth the few minutes to get you started on the tour. I was amazed at the professionalism and quality of the exhibits. Tunica has an interesting history from the poorest county in the nation to one of the wealthiest. Admission is free. You can find the museum going south on hwy 61 on the right near the Paul Battle Expo Arena just a few short miles from the casinos.
Entertainment - Horseshoe, Grand and Goldstrike have some fantastic headliner acts coming soon. Goldstrike has Finis back by popular demand, August 30th thru Sept. 1st. The list at Horseshoe goes on and on with performers such as Lynyard Skyard, Patti LaBelle, Chicago, Blondie....and more. Grand will set the stage for Little Richard July 17th. Grand is bringing in the chefs! Sept-Nov you will see some of your favorite chefs from the food channel such as Ming Tsai, Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, and Sara Moulton. We are already marking our calendar.
Events and promos - You have heard me say it before.......some of your best odds on winning in the casinos are the drawings and contests. Just think someone will win a jaguar at the Isle of Capri and a PT Cruiser at Bally's, cash at Hollywood, cash at Goldstrike, Grand, and Harrah's and entries are free! These are bargains! Casino tips:
**Ladies when you are in the casinos please please don't take your purse.
Whenever you have that much money in one place it does attract those looking for free paychecks. Wear a fanny pack or load your pockets up. I hear too many stories where someone gets excited and walks off and leaves their purse to return and it is gone.
**Remember there are no systems to bet the slot machines. Your spins are totally random. Good money management is your key to having a good time. You are at the mercy of luck. If you have to win, you don't need to play.
**Take a break. If you have been playing a machine for an extended period of time and need to take a break and don't want to leave your machine, ask a slot attendant or host to hold your machine for you. Most of the time they will.
**Always use your player's card and make sure you are getting credit. Make sure it is inserted properly. If you are playing tables ask how you are rated and if you received the right amount of table play time. All of your play goes for either cash back or comps. It is for you. Use it. Don't be shy.
**Casino Valets are free. Just tip the guy or girl that brings you your car. Saves time and energy. Also safer than walking thru crowded parking lots.
