For years Bobby Layne has successfully toured throughout the United States making beautiful music and entertaining thousands. Layne surrounds himself with a diverse group of musicians who are capable of playing any style of music from the 30’s to today’s current hits. The band features four reeds, three brass, piano, bass, drums and featured vocalist, Trudy DuMay. The Orchestra is very versatile with performances of Dixieland to the Big Band sound of Glenn Miller. Layne celebrates 49 years in the Big Band business. Keeping the traditional music of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s alive with “String of Pearls”, “In the Mood”, “Stardust” and many other great big band favorites, he has captured the hearts of the dancers with his excellent tempos and the listening audience with his many melodic arrangements. Layne and Orchestra have worked with many notables in the entertainment business; such as Bob Hope, Anita Bryant, Gordon McRae, the Four Aces, Bob Newhart and the Lawrence Welk cast. In 1974, Miss Trudy DuMay joined the Bobby Layne Orchestra as featured vocalist. She has recorded eight albums with the Bobby Layne Orchestra. DuMay has a talent for “bringing out the best in a song, in the big band style.” Her background in music, as well as being a professional model, complements her singing career and serves her well in performing with the Bobby Layne Orchestra.
