I-69 Opened October 3rd, 2006
Joining Highway 61 and Interstate 55 in North Mississippi
Much awaited opening of I-69 opened October 3rd, 2006. Drive time will be cut in half from I-55 to hwy 61.
Twenty miles of fresh asphalt and concrete will make getting to the Tunica Casinos a breeze from surrounding areas such as Memphis, and Southaven.
For visitor's traveling from the east going down hwy 302 the Goodman Road drive will be cut in half by entering I-55 then to I-69. Visitors coming from the West using I-55/I-40 will continue south on I-55 to the I-69 ramp bypassing city traffic on Third Street/hwy61 in Memphis.
The October 3rd Opening Ceremony was for the section from I-55 to hwy 61 at Grand Casino. Another leg to the I-69 going South to the other casinos will open sometime in November. With I-69 being an answer to the congestion on Hwy 61 during peak hours, travelers will have a safer and quicker drive to the Tunica Resort Casino District.
The Mississippi Transportation Institute Conference will hold a conference Oct 1-4 at Grand Casino Resorts.
